The Institute has developed a set of principles which describe the professional conduct, personal conduct and professional competence expected of a teacher by their colleagues and the community.

The disciplinary process
These pages will explain how the Institute administers its disciplinary function to investigate complaints against registered teachers. The Institute has produced 19 brochures to explain the various elements of the disciplinary process to teachers, employers, complainants and witnesses.

Outcomes of the disciplinary process
The Institute publishes the outcomes of formal hearing decisions on its website and also a list of teachers whose registration has been cancelled without inquiry because they have been convicted or found guilty of a sexual offence.
