The following qualifications, offered by distance education, have been accredited by the Victorian Institute of Teaching and are therefore approved for registration of graduates with the Institute.
DEAKIN UNIVERSITY (VIC)
- Master of Teaching - 2-year postgraduate program approved for primary or secondary teaching in Victoria. It may be completed in 1.5 calendar years (by utilising the summer semester period) or 2 years. This program has an optional Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Secondary) exit point which may be taken after 3 semesters of study. There are several pathways available to pre-service teachers who complete the Master of Teaching (Secondary) program including an internship option, a research option, a leadership option, an applied learning option and an option that allows graduates to qualify for both primary and secondary teaching.

The following qualifications have not been accredited by the Victorian Institute of Teaching; however they are acceptable for registration purposes provided that:
(i) at least 45 days of supervised practice teaching is completed in appropriate school settings
(ii) primary teaching programs include curriculum studies in Mathematics, English, Science, Creative Arts, Physical Education, Studies of Society and Environment (Humanities) and Technology.
In addition, please note that if you intend to seek advanced standing towards any of these qualifications, you should contact the Victorian Institute of Teaching in order to confirm that the advanced standing is acceptable and you will qualify for registration as a teacher in Victoria upon successful completion of the program.
