November: Schedule of Registration Fees 2010

The Minister for Education Bronwyn Pike has approved a new Schedule of Registration Fees for 2010.

The Victorian Government requires that fees and charges are regularly reviewed to allow for increases to the Consumer Price Index.  Under s.2.6.21 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006, the fees are fixed for 12 months by the Minister for Education. The Minister has approved a new Schedule of Registration Fees for 2010 (see below). These increases were published in the Victorian Government Gazette of 26 November and are effective from that date.

As of 28 December 2009 a late payment processing fee of $30 will apply if a teacher hasn't paid their invoice by the due date.  Please also note that if a teacher requires a replacement registration card a processing fee of $22 will apply.

 Frequently asked questions and answers

1. How is the annual registration fee changing?
The annual registration fee for teachers who wish to maintain their Victorian teacher registration for 2010, is increasing by $2, from $68 to $70.

2. Why is the Institute increasing this fee?
The amount of the registration fee is reviewed each year, in line with the Victorian Government requirement for regular indexation of regulatory fees and charges.

3. What is the late payment processing fee?
The late payment processing fee covers the administrative costs of processing late payments. As of 28 December 2009, a late fee will apply to teachers who haven't paid their invoice by the due date.

4. Why has a late fee been introduced?
Late payment of fees has become an increasing problem for the Institute over the last few years, placing an added strain on resources and budget. The late fee only applies to teachers who haven't paid their invoice by the due date. We would prefer teachers to pay their invoices on time, and not be charged a late fee.

5. What happens if exceptional circumstances prevent me from paying on time?
If you notify us of your exceptional circumstances in writing, we will take your circumstances into consideration.

6. Why has a card replacement processing fee been introduced?
This new fee will help cover the administrative costs involved in producing a replacement card.
