2021-22 annual registration period
Thank you to all teachers and early childhood teachers for your incredible professionalism and resilience throughout 2021, and especially in meeting the ongoing challenges presented by COVID 19.
Teacher registration is important in maintaining professional status and public confidence in the profession and to provide for the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
All teachers are required to complete the annual registration process by 30 September each year in order to maintain their registration. The annual registration process applies to all registration categories.
This year you will receive your invoice in the mail and via email, with subsequent reminders via email and SMS. Invoices will start to arrive from the start of August, staggered over 2 weeks. Please note: you don't need to wait for your invoice to arrive, you can login to your MyVIT account and complete your registration tasks from 2 August 2021. Note: If you completed your tasks prior to receiving your invoice, please disregard the invoice as it was generated before you made payment.

Keep your details current
To ensure you receive all correspondence from VIT, it's important that you keep your details current through your MyVIT account.
If you no longer wish to teach in one or both divisions, login to your MyVIT account and complete the cessation of registration form. Please note that once your registration has ceased, you will no longer be allowed to teach in Victoria.
The VIT’s registration fees continue to be among the lowest across Australia and may be tax-deductible.
Upon payment, you will be prompted to view or download a copy of your receipt. You can view and download your payment history at any time through your MyVIT account by navigating to the 'view applications' tile. Right-click the down arrow (on the far right side) of the relevant application and select ‘View receipt’. To request a copy of pre-2020 invoices for tax-purposes, please email VIT.
COVID 19 adjustments
If you have been impacted by COVID 19 and cannot meet your registration requirements, read about the regulatory decisions we've taken to ease concerns about teacher registration during the coronavirus pandemic.
For teachers completing their annual registration tasks, COVID 19 annual registration adjustments have been built into the registration system. If you have been impacted by COVID 19 you will have the opportunity to advise us of your circumstances when you complete your registration tasks.
How to complete your annual registration tasks
- To complete your annual registration tasks, log in to your MyVIT account. Your username is the email address listed on VIT’s system (and is provided in your email and paper invoice notification).
You can reset your password by clicking on 'Forgot your password?' Your username is the email address listed on VIT’s system. You will receive an email with a reset password link - it is important that you only click on the link once. The email may take up to 2 hours to receive - check your junk mail folder. Please note: the link will expire within 24 hours.
Please do not attempt to set up a new account, as this will cause duplicate accounts and delay your ability to complete your annual registration tasks. If you do not receive a password reset link, please check that your junk mail and ensure that VIT has been added to your safe senders list.

You will receive an email notification once your registration has been approved, and your expiry date on the public register and in your MyVIT account will be updated. If you are due for a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) or declare a suitability matter, your application may require additional assessment. The VIT will contact you directly if further information is required to assess your application.
Registration cards will be issued within 30 business days of your registration tasks being assessed and approved, however you don't need a card to prove your registration.
Note: In response to feedback previous renewal periods regarding a more sustainable solution for the plastic coated cards, the VIT is currently exploring an option for electronic cards in future.

I haven't received an invoice notification or reset password email
Invoices will start to arrive from the start of August, staggered over 2 weeks. Emails may have been sent to your junkmail / spam folder. To ensure you receive regular updates and important information about your registration, please add email@example.com to your safe senders list.
I have been impacted by COVID 19 and don’t think I can complete my registration tasks

The COVID 19 adjustments have been built into the annual registration form and you will need to complete your registration tasks to advise us of your circumstances.
How do I get a copy of my paid invoice?
Once you have submitted your application, you will be given the option to download or print your invoice.
You can also download a copy of your paid invoice by selecting the ‘Applications’ tile in your MyVIT account and navigating to the relevant application. To request a receipt prior to the 2020-21 registration year, you will need to email VIT.
How do I know if I’ve successfully completed my annual registration tasks?
You will receive an email notification (check your junk mail), your expiry date will be updated to 30/09/2022 on the public register and your application will be marked as ‘complete in your MyVIT account (navigate to ‘applications’ via the ‘registration details’ tile).
I'm having trouble accessing MyVIT

Why is it taking so long for my application for renewal of registration to be finalised?
As regulator of the teaching profession, VIT assesses all applications to ensure a person is eligible and suitable to hold registration. This assessment not only ensures only qualified and suitable people are able to undertake the duties of a teacher, it provides for the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
Most renewal of registration applications are assessed on the day of submission. In some cases, applications may take longer to assess.
The length of time taken to assess an application depends on each applicant's circumstances, and will only be fully assessed once all documentation has been provided. Read more about the assessment process.
Note: The VIT has been advised by the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) that it is experiencing higher than normal demands on its police checking services. This means that if you are due for a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC), it may take upwards of 6 weeks to be returned.
