Lesley Lamb has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the VIT Council. With 37 years in teaching and over a decade as a principal, Lesley brings significant experience to the role, and speaks of her deep bond with the profession:
“Education has always been my life. I’ve benefited from outstanding teachers and schools, and I’ve always had a passionate commitment to the profession. Two of my three children are secondary school teachers and my husband was also a principal, so it’s in the blood,” she said.
“Through my work as a principal and in literacy development, I’ve been in many schools - large and small, primary and secondary, and from the city to small communities. What unites all of them is teachers' passion to make a difference in children’s lives. There’s nothing more exciting to a teacher than seeing eyes light up when their message gets through to their learners – no matter whether the learner is two or twenty!”
“I’m really looking forward to the challenge of working with the profession and stakeholders in the work of VIT. The Council and VIT staff work closely to ensure that all learners have the opportunity to be taught by the highest quality teachers. We’re all in this together.”
VIT would like to thank Audrey Brown for her work as interim Chairperson. Audrey will continue as Deputy Chairperson of Council.
