Happy World Teachers' Day

22 OCTOBER 2018

Every day, Victorian teachers are supporting children and young people by improving student outcomes and shaping their lives for future success.

VIT recognises the high quality of our teachers, early childhood teachers, casual relief teachers, principals and early childhood leaders, and the significant contributions they make in our classrooms and communities.

World Teachers' Day is an opportunity to acknowledge this valuable work and celebrate the wonderful achievements made by teachers across the State.

You can celebrate this World Teachers' Day by acknowledging your own work in education, or the work of your colleagues.

If you have an example of outstanding work in your school or early childhood setting, we’d like to consider showcasing it on our Excellence in Teaching page. Send your example and contact details to vitcomms@vit.vic.edu.au. Tell us about how you, a colleague or group of colleagues have

  • engaged students in learning
  • demonstrated excellence in teaching and learning
  • applied the APST in practice
  • engaged in and applied professional learning
  • engaged with colleagues, school and the broader community
  • promoted professional ethics and responsibilities.

Celebrated internationally on 5 October, World Teachers’ Day was established in 1994 by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) to recognise the vital role of qualified teachers in our society.

In 2018, World teachers' Day will be celebrated in Victoria on Friday 26 October.
