AITSL has published guidelines for school leadership development which are designed to help jurisdictions, principals and other school leaders enhance current approaches to develop and strengthen school leadership across the nation. The ‘leading for impact’ guidelines are the result of extensive consultation across jurisdictions, sectors and systems.
If you are in leadership and see the importance of supporting tomorrow’s leaders, it answers some crucial questions, such as:
- What is needed to build a leadership development strategy and culture?
- What are the best ways to identify and develop future leaders? What capabilities are needed?
- What roles do principals play and how can we identify and prepare future principals?
- What does the effective recruitment and selection of principals look like?
Active steps are needed to increase equality and diversity within the leadership pool. These guidelines provide a framework to address this very important challenge.
More information on the guidelines can be found on the AITSL website.
