3 SEPTEMBER 2019
The Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) has produced a series of videos featuring teachers illustrating, through their practice, how they meet the various descriptors of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
We’ve chosen one example as our focus. Watching this video and reflecting on how you could apply this in your teaching context can count as part of your professional learning requirements for renewal of registration.

Wrap around care supports learning
At the beginning of the year, the teacher establishes a consistent behaviour management approach, linked to the shared school values. These values are explored and given meaning via creative group activities in the pastoral care program she facilitates at the school. The teacher works with the philosophy that when students are engaged in their learning, behavioural problems are less likely to arise.
