If you have submitted your annual registration tasks
If you have not yet received a registration card, your card may still be in the process of being issued or your application may still be undergoing assessment by VIT.
You can check whether your application has been processed by logging into your MyVIT account. Please check your inbox for any important information VIT may have sent regarding your registration.
A registered teacher doesn't need to be in possession of their registration card to prove they are registered to teach. The public register displays all the necessary details to confirm your registration, such as your name, registration number, initial registration date and expiry date. Your employer can also confirm your status via their employer portal.
If you haven’t already registered for 2021
Teachers and early childhood teachers who have not yet completed their annual registration should login to their MyVIT account and complete their tasks before 31 December 2020 to avoid being removed from the register.

What happens if you don’t complete your annual registration tasks?
If you do not complete your annual registration requirements by 31 December 2020, you will be removed from the register (either by expiry or suspension). If this occurs you will not be able to work as a teacher / early childhood teacher in a Victorian school / early childhood service.
What does it mean to have your registration suspended?
If you have an expiry date later than 31 December 2020 and fail to complete your annual registration requirements, you will be suspended from teaching in Victoria.
This could apply to you if you hold Permission to Teach (PTT) or provisional registration.
If you are suspended, you can apply to have the suspension revoked through your MyVIT account if you complete the outstanding requirements and provide a satisfactory written explanation for your failure to complete these by the due date.
You will not be able to resume teaching until your suspension has been revoked by VIT.
What does it mean if your registration expires?
If you have an expiry date before 31 December 2020 and fail to complete your annual registration requirements, your registration will expire and you will be removed from the register.
If you have been removed from the register and you wish to resume teaching, you will need to log into your MyVIT account to reapply for registration and meet all the current registration requirements.
You will not be able to resume teaching until your application has been assessed and approved by VIT.
What if you don’t want to maintain your registration?
If you no longer wish to be a registered teacher / early childhood teacher, please login to your MyVIT account and complete a cessation of registration form.
