27 AUGUST 2020
If you are a provisionally registered teacher and ready to apply for (full) registration, you can now apply online through your MyVIT account.
What you need to know
In order to move to (full) registration you will need to
- have taught for a total of at least 80 days in one or more Australian or New Zealand schools or early childhood (EC) services (this can include teaching in a remote learning context); and
- provide evidence that you have met the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST) at the Proficient Teacher level using VIT’s inquiry approach.
Once you have met with your mentor to ensure you have completed all of the above requirements, you can convene a workplace recommendation panel. A workplace panel meeting can take place face-to-face or via video conferencing.
Who should be in your workplace recommendation panel?
VIT expects the below composition for panels.
|School setting||Early childhood setting|
The principal can assume the role of panel chair.
If the education leader in the EC service is a (fully) registered teacher with VIT, they should assume the role of the panel chair.
If the education leader is not a (fully) registered teacher, the VIT trained mentor should assume the role of panel chair.
How to apply for (full) registration through your MyVIT account
When you have a date organised for your workplace recommendation panel you can commence an application for (full) registration in your MyVIT account.
You will then need to present your evidence against the APST to a workplace recommendation panel, after which the panel chair will complete the recommendation report available in their employer portal.
Watch the video below to find out everything you need to know about applying for (full) registration through your MyVIT account.
Further information on the workplace panel can be found in the Workplace Recommendation Panel Guidelines.
Further information on completing the (full) registration process during COVID-19 can be found here.
