06 FEBRUARY 2020
The Victorian Institute of Teaching wishes all teachers and early childhood teachers the very best in 2020.
If you’re newly registered, welcome to the profession - we sincerely hope you enjoy your teaching career.
If you are yet to receive your registration card, remember: the quickest and easiest way to check your registration status is by searching the public register. Type in your name or registration number, and if your name appears, you are lawfully allowed to teach. However, if your name is displayed in red, this means you are non-practising and are unable to undertake the duties of a teacher or early childhood teacher.
Please note: you don't need to be in possession of your registration card to prove you are registered to teach. The public register displays all the necessary details to confirm your registration, such as your name, registration number, initial registration date and expiry date.
If your employer has asked for your card as proof of registration and you are waiting for your card to arrive, you can advise them to check the register.
If your name does not appear on the register, then you are not registered or permitted to teach. If you're unsure why your name does not appear, please contact us for more information.
