Registration fees to remain at 2019-20 levels
The first half of 2020 has been like no other, with our communities dealing with the devastating bushfires earlier in the year and now the coronavirus pandemic (COVID 19). We have witnessed Victorian teachers and early childhood teachers responding with incredible professionalism and resilience to meet the challenge presented by COVID 19.
Registered teachers and early childhood teachers are required to complete annual registration tasks in order to maintain their registration, including making payment.
Teacher registration is important in maintaining professional standing and public confidence in the profession, particularly in protecting the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
Registration requirements, such as qualifications, provisional registration, renewal, professional development, adherence to professional standards and Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Checks all contribute to the professionalism of Victoria’s teachers.
Lowest teacher registration fees in Australia
The VIT’s registration fees continue to be tax deductible and the lowest across Australia. In line with the Victorian Treasurer’s announcement in April 2020 where he set the annual index rate at 0.0 per cent, this year's (2020-21) registration fees will remain at 2019-20 levels.
The VIT Council has approved a 10 per cent increase in teacher registration fees for the following registration period (2021-22). Despite this, VIT fees will still remain lower than most, if not all, teacher registration fees in Australia.

The VIT is moving to one registration platform for all teachers, early childhood teachers and their employers to manage their registration requirements.
We are pleased to announce that the new system is scheduled to be completed on time and to budget – ready for the annual registration process.
You will be able to login to your new MyVIT account from 27 July 2020 to complete your annual registration tasks and make payment. Teachers will receive an invoice via email and post with their new login details from 27 July – 15 August.
If you wish to complete your tasks before receiving your invoice, your new username is your email address. You will be prompted to reset your password.
Attention edumail account holders: For convenience, we have updated your email to reflect the Department of Education and Training’s recent move to the ‘@education.gov.au’ email domain.
