Take part in the 2022 Graduate Teacher Survey

The Department of Education and Training is conducting the survey to obtain feedback from first year teachers, mentors and school leaders to improve support and resources.

The Department of Education and Training (DET) 2022 Graduate Teacher Survey is now open to first year teachers, mentors and school leaders.

The survey is seeking feedback to improve initial teacher education (ITE) course quality and support for new teachers. This research will also go to understanding the challenges of first year teachers and how DET and course providers can best support new teachers entering into the profession.

Your feedback will help shape the way DET works with ITE providers to develop high quality graduates. It also captures feedback on teacher preparedness for the classroom, elements of ITE and school-based processes to support early career teacher development.

Findings and outcomes of the survey will be made available to all Victorian ITE providers to inform them of the experiences of their graduates and the schools in which their graduates work.

School leaders and principals are encouraged to promote the survey among first year teachers, mentors and other school leaders in their network.

The survey is being conducted by the Social Research Centre, on behalf of DET, and more information can be found on their website or contacted via email

The survey will take 5 - 15 minutes to complete and closes on Friday, 24 June 2022.
