In a school setting, it's expected the workplace recommendation panel generally comprises
- your principal (or their delegate) who assumes the role of panel chair
- a fully registered teacher or early childhood teacher who has participated in a VIT mentor training program (Effective Mentor Program or other)
- a fully registered teacher colleague who you nominate and knows your work.
In an early childhood setting, it's expected the workplace recommendation panel generally comprises
- your centre director / manager (or their delegate) who assumes the role of panel chair
- a fully registered early childhood teacher or teacher who has participated in a VIT mentoring training program (Effective Mentor Program or other)
- a fully registered early childhood teacher or teacher colleague who you nominate and knows your work.
To be part of a panel, the principal, centre director / manager* and all panel members must hold full, practising teacher or early childhood teacher registration with VIT. Panel members cannot hold provisional, experienced returning or non-practising registration or permission to teach (PTT).
*If your centre director / manager does not hold full early childhood teacher registration, any early childhood trained panel member can assume the role of panel chair.
If a workplace has any concerns regarding the formation of a properly constituted workplace recommendation panel, please contact the Professional Practice team for further guidance.
