With extensive knowledge of risk-based practices and processes, including the integration and delivery of customer engagement and registration services, the role will ensure VIT meets community expectations and provides for young peoples' safety and wellbeing.

As an experienced leader, you will have sound and practical knowledge of contemporary risk-based regulatory practices and processes. You will have experience working in regulatory environments, and ideally a passion for child safety and experience working with the education sector.

You will have proven strategic planning, conceptual and analytical skills combined with a highly organised approach and a proven track record in operational management, particularly in licensing, registration, customer service and engagement functions. In addition to this, as the successful candidate, you will have

  • a record of achieving organisational objectives and outcomes
  • demonstrated experience in developing and delivering effective and fit-for-purpose frameworks, policies, and processes
  • excellent written and verbal skills, and an ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships.

Senior Policy Officer

The Senior Policy Officer offers an outstanding career opportunity for a professional who is passionate about using their expertise and leadership to support VIT in its regulation of Victorian teachers. With expert legal and policy knowledge and practice, the role will make a substantial contribution to enhancing the work of the VIT. 

The purpose of this role is to assist the Policy Manager in the development, implementation, monitoring, review and amendment of governance, corporate and regulatory policies to ensure that are up to date and align with best practice. This includes providing legal and policy advice about individual policies as required. 

Be part of a forward-thinking, risk based regulator where ideas and opinions are valued. This role will require you to:

  • report to the Policy Manager provide authoritative, strategic and practical advice and manage key strategic projects related to legislative and policy reform.
  • communicate clearly, effectively and sensitively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • engage, consult and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement strategic and policy outcomes.
  • support and undertake functions relating to primary and subordinate legislative proposals, including providing advice and instructing on the drafting of bills and regulations, as required.
  • maintain an understanding of contemporary risk-based and outcomes-focused regulatory practice and be knowledgeable about key State and national priorities in education.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Manager

An exciting opportunity exists at the Victorian Institute of Teaching as Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Manager within the Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Branch. This is a VIT Grade 6 role.

The Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Branch is responsible for the planning, delivery and evaluation of marketing communications and stakeholder campaigns across all VIT communication channels.

As the Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Manager, you will manage and lead the delivery of VIT’s communications and engagement functions and associated strategy.

You will do this by:

  • Managing and leading a team of communications specialists responsible for providing high-level service and support across VIT in relation to the delivery of clear and effective marketing communications and inclusive stakeholder campaigns;
  • Working across the VIT to manage the organisation’s brand; and
  • Leading the planning, delivery and evaluation of marketing communications and stakeholder campaigns across all communication channels.

The successful candidate will have relevant qualifications and experience in communications, marketing, media management and/or stakeholder management, as well as high-level project management skills, with the ability to deliver multiple projects concurrently.
