Digital registration cards are here
Say goodbye to physical cards and hello to convenience. VIT registration is going digital – making it easier than ever for Victorian teachers and early childhood teachers to prove their registration status, right from their smartphone.
No more waiting for the mail. No more lost cards. No more wondering if your registration is current.
Your digital registration card lives in the Service Victoria app, right alongside your other digital credentials including your Victorian digital driver licence or Working with Children Check.
Real-time proof and peace of mind
Your digital card is always up to date – pulling live data from VIT’s registration system. This means that employers can scan your QR code and instantly verify your status, helping ensure that only those registered to teach are in our schools and early childhood centres.
A teacher’s registration can change at any time (e.g. become expired, placed on interim suspension or cancelled), therefore physical cards are only valid on the day they are printed.
Employers and teachers who rely solely on physical cards to verify teacher registration are at serious risk of contributing to a range of regulatory issues, including child safety concerns and instances of unregistered teaching practice
The register of teachers, Employer portal and digital registration cards are all linked to VIT’s teacher registration system and updated immediately upon a change in registration, and therefore the only safe and accurate methods to prove a teacher’s registration status.

How to access your new digital card
Currently, new applicants who are granted teacher registration or permission to teach (PTT) are being issued with a digital card once their application has been approved.
From August 2025, existing registered teachers and early childhood teachers will be issued with a digital card once their 2025-26 annual registration application has been approved.
Any registered teacher can access their digital card by simply opening the Service Victoria app or downloading from the Google Play store or Apple App store. You’ll need to log in or create an account, tap ‘Wallet’ and follow the prompts to enter your family name, date of birth and VIT registration number.
Your digital card will be available in the Service Victoria app wallet on your smartphone or tablet whenever you need to prove your registration status.
