Key messages

The Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) has developed a series of educational webinars to assist employers in understanding the importance of teacher registration and their regulatory obligations as an employer.

As ‘co-regulators’ of the teaching profession, employers are required to ensure their teachers hold valid teacher registration. This is critical in maintaining professional status and public confidence in the profession and providing for the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.

The webinars are designed for principals, assistant principals, school leaders, early childhood managers and authorised delegates to explore how to manage and monitor teacher registration, as well as guide staff through the registration process.

Each term, VIT aims to deliver webinars to support employers in meeting their regulatory obligations and reducing the risk of unregistered teaching practice

Registrations for the 2024 term two employer webinars are now open.

Employers are encouraged to attend a webinar relevant to their teaching context.

Attending an employer webinar will help to

  • support employees in meeting their regulatory requirements
  • reduce the risk of unregistered teaching practice and professional conduct matters
  • improve communication and transparency between VIT and employers
  • build trust and confidence in the functions VIT delivers.
