Support your provisionally registered ECTs to move to full registration

Applications are now open for Round 1 of the 2024-2025 Early Childhood Provisionally Registered Teacher (PRT) Grants Program.

Employers of provisionally registered early childhood teachers can access funding from the Department of Education to support teachers to move to full registration.

Approved providers of early childhood services can apply for a one-off payment of $2,872 (excluding GST) per eligible provisionally registered teacher (PRT).

The funding can be used to

  • provide paid time release, travel or accommodation expenses for both the PRT and a mentor to work with each other
  • employ a casual relief teacher to back-fill the PRT and/or the mentor
  • support the PRT to undertake formal professional learning
  • provide professional development opportunities such as attendance at conferences, workshops, seminars, online courses, subscriptions to teacher magazines/journals/research articles and teacher textbook resources on particular topics.

Who can apply

Approved providers can apply for grants of $2,872 (excluding GST) for each PRT they employ at a state-funded early childhood service in Victoria and intend to support to move to full registration in the next 12 months.
