Once your MyVIT account has been created, you can apply for registration by clicking on the ‘Apply for registration’ tile.

Need help using MyVIT? Check out our FAQs page for some helpful guides and videos on creating an account and submitting an application.

How do I reset my MyVIT password?

You can reset your password by selecting Forgot your password? on the MyVIT account login page.

This will prompt you to enter your username (i.e. your email address held by VIT).

You will receive an email with a reset password link - it is important that you only click on the link once. The email may take up to 2 hours to receive - ensure you check your junk mail folder. Please note: the link will expire within 24 hours.

We recommend using the latest version of Google Chrome. Check your junk mail and add VIT to your safe sender list.

If you cannot remember your password, and do not have access to the email address you set up your account with, please contact us.

How do I complete my annual registration tasks?

The following steps outline how to complete your annual registration tasks.

How to complete your annual registration tasks

  1. Log into your MyVIT account.
  2. Click on the 'Complete annual registration tasks' tile (this will appear once your annual registration tasks are ready to be completed).
    • The initial application page outlines what tasks you need to complete, what information you’ll need to complete them and information about your registration options.
    • If you are leaving the teaching profession and don’t intend to return, you can cease your registration via the ‘Manage registration’ menu on the previous page.
  3. Click ‘next’ to proceed
    • You are required to provide some information to VIT as your registration is in lieu of a Working with Children Check. You must confirm if you currently undertake, or intend to undertake, any paid or voluntary child related work other than your teaching.
  4. Click ‘no’ and then click ‘next’
    • You will need to complete a series of modules for annual registration. The modules with a green ‘review’ button already have information in them and don’t need to be completed unless you wish to review the information. The modules with a blue ‘update’ button need to be completed before you can submit your application.
    • If you are due to complete your five yearly criminal record check, you are required to complete additional information relating to your name and address history and provide consent.

How to complete the proof of identity – address history module

  1. Click the blue ‘update’ button
    • The module will appear if you are due to complete a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (all teachers are required to undertake this check every five years).
  2. Read the screen with instructions
    • An address may be already listed. Even if this is the correct address of your current residence, more information is needed.
  3. Complete your address history for the last five years, including start dates and end dates.
    • If this has been your only address for the past five years, add the start date. If it is your current address, do not complete the end date.
    • If you have lived at other addresses in the past five years, add those addresses with start dates and end dates as well.
  4. Click the drop down arrow to the right and select ‘edit’ to enter your current address.
  5. To indicate this is your current address, select ‘current’.
  6. Click ‘next’.
    • You now have the option to update any of these address details if you need to.
  7. Enter the start date (the date when you first lived at this address) in the section marked ‘from’
  8. Choose the date and click ‘next’. The start date will be added to the address.
  9. Click ‘add address’ to add the previous addresses
  10. Because it is not where you are currently living, choose ‘previous’ and click ‘next’
  11. Enter the address in the box marked ‘find address’
    • When you start to enter details, a series of possible addresses automatically appears. Simply choose the correct address.
  12. Click the box marked ‘can’t find your address’ and enter your address details manually if the address you want does not appear automatically
  13. Choose the ‘from’ date to enter the ‘from’ date (when you commenced living at this address) and the ‘to’ date (your last day at this address).
    • The last day at your previous address must be the same as the first day of your next address. This is important. There must be no gaps between any of your dates.
  14. Click ‘next’
    • A full five years of address history will be listed, including the two addresses you have lived in during the 5 years, with no gap between the end date of your previous address, and the start date of your current address.
    • The current address should have no end date.
  15. Click ‘continue’
    • The proof of identity address history module has now changed from blue ‘update’ to green ‘review’ on the annual registration tasks page. You don’t need to do anything further with this module, unless you want to review and/or change the information it contains.
    • Once you have completed your NCCHC, or if you did not need to complete this module, proceed with your remaining tasks
    • The modules you have completed so far will show a green ‘review’ button
