2023 Early Childhood Australia National Conference

Celebrating its 35th year, the Early Childhood Australia (ECA) National Conference is back.

Held at Adelaide Convention Centre from Wednesday 4 October to Saturday 7 October, the 2023 theme is Kumarninthi—Becoming one: Old ways, new wisdom.

The theme emphasises the importance of bringing together and honouring old ways, including theoretical perspectives and knowledge, with new and contemporary approaches to deliver the best possible early childhood education.

Meaning ‘becoming one’ the word ‘kumarninthi’ comes from the Kaurna people of South Australia, where this year’s conference will be held.

The conference program offers a variety of streams and sessions to suit attendees at different points in their careers including initial teacher education (ITE) students, early childhood teachers and educational leaders.
