Celebrate National Science Week in your school. The 2020 schools theme is Deep Blue: innovations for the future of our oceans.
VIT would like to congratulate Balnarring Pre-school on winning the HART (Helping Achieve Reconciliation Together) awards during the 20th anniversary of reconciliation week.
Our Professional Practice team has a significant focus on building strong relationships with all stakeholders in the education space. The team is committed to educating teachers and the community about teaching quality by showcasing best practice in Victorian schools and early childhood services.
We regularly receive requests for advice from teachers and the general
public on matters that fall outside of our jurisdiction.
VIT is always glad to assist where possible, however there are times when we
are unable to help.
In continuing our efforts to help during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have introduced temporary regulatory measures to assist ITE providers and ensure pre-service teachers are not disadvantaged.
In light of the impact of COVID-19, many teachers are now working in an online learning environment. We encourage teachers to take the opportunity to develop their skills in teaching and learning in an online environment.
We remain focused on assisting Victorian teachers, early childhood teachers and their employers as we move through the challenging months ahead. As such, we are endeavouring to minimise the impacts of COVID-19 on teachers' registration requirements where possible.
Like most businesses, COVID-19 has impacted the way the Victorian Institute of Teaching is conducting business.
VIT has been able to maintain delivery of its regulatory functions and keep phone lines open – albeit with some changes to our telephone numbers (as we are working away from the office).
Part of VIT’s role is to investigate the conduct, competence and fitness to teach of registered teachers, and whether a registered teacher’s ability to practice as a teacher or early childhood teacher is seriously affected because of an impairment.
