Funding to support NAIDOC initiatives

Gain support to host a NAIDOC event in your school or educational setting

Taking place from 7-14 July 2024, NAIDOC Week aims to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements. This year, the federal government has announced $1.7 million in grants to support communities to celebrate the important event.

The 2024 theme "Keep the fire burning! Blak, loud and proud" honours the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture. Fire symbolises connection to Country, to each other and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

First Nations communities, businesses, schools and local governments are encouraged to apply for funding to run NAIDOC activities and events.

There are two support tiers available, small scale - with funding up to $10,000, and large scale - with funding between $10,001 and $50,000.

Funding can support activities such as

  • arts, including painting, dancing, craft and storytelling
  • family fun days and community activities
  • cultural and Elders activities
  • NAIDOC themed sporting events
  • activities that actively promote Reconciliation.

Applications for funding close 3pm Thursday 22 February 2024.
