New pre-assessment service supports overseas applicants applying for registration in Victoria

Are you relocating from overseas to teach in Victoria, but not sure if you’re eligible for teacher registration? Wouldn’t it be good to know before submitting your application?

Well now you can!

The Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) is taking the stress out of applying for teacher registration for applicants who completed their studies outside of Australia by offering a pre-assessment of overseas teaching qualifications before they apply for teacher registration.

This new service ensures applicants receive clearer information on how VIT undertakes its assessment of overseas qualifications.

It also provides greater certainty that their qualifications meet the requirement for registration before they commit to moving to Victoria.

For employers, pre-assessing overseas qualifications better supports the employment process by eliminating the risk of recruiting ineligible teachers or early childhood teachers.

It creates a more streamlined recruitment pathway for applicants prior to securing a teaching role and making a significant investment in relocating to Victoria.

Apply now

If you’re an overseas applicant looking to teach in Victoria, apply for your pre-assessment today! Simply create a MyVIT account, provide your evidence and pay the assessment fee.

The VIT will assess your overseas qualification to determine its equivalency to an Australian accredited initial teacher education (ITE) program and confirm your eligibility for teacher registration.

Then you can apply for teacher registration with peace of mind that you meet the qualification requirements.
