Australian College of Educators is providing teachers with an opportunity to gain valuable insights on teaching children who have experienced trauma.
On Tuesday 15 November, ACE will present two expert speakers – Tom Brunzell from the Berry Street Childhood Institute, and Maureen O’Keefe from Foundation House. The event will be of particular interest to teachers who are working with refugee children but will also assist practitioners to support children who have experienced trauma from any adverse event, including loss of a parent or other family member, serious accident or illness.
This topic specifically relates the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers - APST1: knowing learners and how they learn. In particular, it will focus on APST 1.1 (Physical, social and intellectual development and characteristics of learners) and APST 1.3 (Learners with diverse linguistic, cultural, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds).
