Victorian ECT takes home National Standout Education Award

Six educators from across Australia, including one Victorian early childhood teacher (ECT), have been recognised in the G8 Education 2023 National Standout Education Awards.

The awards aim to recognise commitment to play-based learning and excellence, across six categories

  • safety
  • sustainability
  • community engagement
  • family engagement
  • mentoring
  • outstanding practice.

Winners were selected from six finalists in each respective category, and judged by an expert panel from G8 Education. Each category winner received funding to support professional development of their choice.

The VIT wishes to congratulate all winners, including Early Childhood Teacher Sasha Hill-Head from The Learning Sanctuary Yarraville, who was recognised for outstanding practice.

The judging panel said Ms Hill-Head shows clear passion and dedication to her role, leading and mentoring her fellow peers to create rich experiences and environments for children to learn, develop and play, and that she supports her team in setting up engaging environments across the centre, showing clear pedagogical decision-making and understanding of all ages and development needs.
