VIT hosts first Welcome to the Profession Conference

On Friday 22 November 2024, we were joined by over 200 pre-service and provisionally registered teachers and permission to teach holders for the first ever VIT Welcome to the Profession Conference!

Following a Welcome to Country from the Wurundjeri Corporation, VIT Chairperson Lesley Lamb and Acting CEO Geoff Coates welcomed teachers and unpacked the importance of VIT's role and the requirements of a regulator. In our morning and afternoon sessions, renowned educational consultant Glen Pearsall shared effective classroom management strategies to develop and support teaching practice across a broad range of learning settings.

99% of attendees shared that they were 'very likely' or ‘likely’ to implement the knowledge and skills from the workshop in their teaching practice.

100% of attendees said the resources were useful and they would recommend the workshop!

Over lunch teachers had a chance to network and meet our exhibitors to understand the support on offer in the early stages of their teaching careers. Thanks to the following key stakeholders for joining us
