A crucial part of the role of all school and early childhood teachers is to respond effectively to children and young people whose safety and wellbeing may be at risk, or who are in need of protection.
All staff working in early childhood settings and schools within Victoria, particularly those with mandatory reporting obligations, are strongly encouraged to regularly undertake and complete online modules.
The Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT), Victoria’s independent regulator of the teaching profession, will investigate the extent to which higher education institutions providing initial teacher education, are complying with the Victorian Selection Framework (VSF) for students entering initial teacher education programs.

The stage is set for Celebrating the arts – this year’s theme of Education Week 2018.
Running from the 20 to 26 May, Education Week will give students, teachers and the community the opportunity to get involved in a range of music, dance, drama, visual art and media arts.

It is wonderful to see registered teachers being recognised by one of Australia’s most prestigious awards, and it shows how much the community recognises the importance of and respects those working in the education sector.

National and State reforms in teacher education have strengthened entry standards into initial teacher education programs. This means that students seeking entry into courses that qualify them to teach will need to meet academic standards and demonstrate they possess personal attributes that fit them for teaching.
