A crucial part of the role of all school and early childhood teachers is to respond effectively to children and young people whose safety and wellbeing may be at risk, or who are in need of protection.
All staff working in early childhood settings and schools within Victoria, particularly those with mandatory reporting obligations, are strongly encouraged to regularly undertake and complete online modules.
The Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT), Victoria’s independent regulator of the teaching profession, will investigate the extent to which higher education institutions providing initial teacher education, are complying with the Victorian Selection Framework (VSF) for students entering initial teacher education programs.
Invoices are being sent via email in August - so most teachers should expect to receive their invoice in the next few weeks.
At VIT we’ve introduced videos and podcasts to provide useful information for initial teacher educaton graduates, teachers and employers about teacher registration. Now for easy access, we’ve collected them all in one place – our new multimedia pages.
The stage is set for Celebrating the arts – this year’s theme of Education Week 2018.

The VIT Council is very pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Corcoran as our new Chief Executive Officer.
Congratulations to our teachers who were awarded with Australia Day Honours. You are an inspiration for your leaders.
It is wonderful to see registered teachers being recognised by one of Australia’s most prestigious awards, and it shows how much the community recognises the importance of and respects those working in the education sector.
We look forward to having all graduate teachers registered for the start of the school year. We are currently processing all the information supplied by education providers including the new Literacy and Numeracy Test results.
National and State reforms in teacher education have strengthened entry standards into initial teacher education programs.
