New VIT Council announced
The Victorian Institute of Teaching is pleased to announce the appointment of 13 new Council members from 1 June 2025 to 31 May 2028. The VIT Council provides strategic oversight and governance to guide the Institute in achieving its vision for all Victorian children and young people to have the best teachers.
The members of Council are appointed by the Governor in Council on the recommendation of the Minister for Education. Members include the chairperson and representatives of key stakeholder groups such as parents, teacher employers, teacher educators and education unions. The Secretary of the Department of Education or a nominee also sits on the Council.
The Governor in Council, under section 2.6.6(3)(a) of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 has appointed Mr David Baker, Ms Kate Fogarty, Ms Joanna Garner, Ms Lisa Holt, Ms Sharelle Knight, Professor Larissa McLean-Davies, Mr Brenden Morris, Mr Dale Pearce, Ms Mary-Anne Pontikis, Ms Gabrielle Steward, Ms Raelene Vine, Ms Eve Ward and Mr Graeme Young as members of the Council of VIT.
Dale Pearce has been appointed as the chairperson of the Council and Kate Fogarty has been appointed as the deputy chairperson of the Council.
