Connecting with school leaders at the Victorian Government Schools Principal’s Conference

On Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 May, VIT attended the Victorian Government Schools Principal’s Conference — an important opportunity to connect with school leaders and contribute to practical, forward-looking conversations about education.

This year’s theme, Leading together for excellence and equity, closely aligns with our role as a regulator and partner to the profession. It reflects our shared commitment to supporting high-quality teaching and strong, inclusive leadership across Victorian schools.

Sharing practical insights at the VIT workshops

Our team led two well-received workshops that sparked strong engagement and discussion.

Beyond the code: Strengthening professional boundaries in a digital era

This session explored how the Code of Conduct applies in increasingly complex digital environments. It focused on practical scenarios to help principals support staff in maintaining clear professional boundaries online, manage risks, and promote safe, respectful conduct in digital spaces.

This workshop explored current workforce challenges and opportunities. It highlighted practical approaches to attracting, supporting and retaining a high-quality, diverse teaching workforce, while maintaining professional standards and supporting teacher wellbeing.

Strong conversations and connections

Joined by our CEO and VIT professional practice team, we engaged with education leaders on how we can continue working together to achieve excellence in leadership.

There was a real energy across the conference, with principals reconnecting, sharing ideas and learning from each other. Our team also enjoyed meeting delegates at the VIT booth — answering questions, sharing information about our work, and building valuable connections.

Our team thoroughly enjoyed the two days, connecting with school leaders from across Victoria and hearing from highly regarded speakers and experienced education leaders. Presenting on contemporary topics in teacher registration was a valuable opportunity, and we were encouraged by the strong participation and thoughtful conversations with principals.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to be part of the conference and look forward to continuing to work with school leaders on the issues that matter most.
