This quarterly report provides an overview of the regulatory performance of VIT for the period 1 April to 30 June 2026 (Q2 2026).

The report shows continued growth in Victoria's teaching workforce, with overall registration numbers increasing following the seasonal decline recorded in the previous quarter. Growth was seen across both full and provisional registration categories, particularly among early childhood teachers. The number of experienced teachers returning to the profession also continued to increase compared with the same period last year.

Operational and regulatory performance remained strong throughout the quarter. Application assessment timeframes continued to improve, customer service measures remained strong, and professional conduct reforms delivered improved closure rates in active caseloads and reductions in historical backlog matters. Together, these results demonstrate the ongoing effectiveness of initiatives designed to strengthen service delivery and improve regulatory performance and responsiveness. 

This report also includes expanded workforce insights through additional permission to teach (PTT) and mutual recognition reporting, providing a broader view of teacher supply pathways and mobility across Victoria.
