Celebrate Cultural Diversity Week 2026
Cultural Diversity Week is Victoria’s annual celebration of the people, stories and traditions that shape our multicultural state. Running from 21–29 March 2026, this week invites every Victorian school and early childhood service to recognise the cultures, languages and identities that enrich our learning communities.
Victoria is home to people who speak more than 290 languages and represent 314 different ancestries. This diversity strengthens our classrooms, builds connection and helps children develop a deep understanding of the world around them.
This year’s theme 'Culture connects us all' highlights the many ways cultural exchange fosters understanding, belonging and strong relationships. Sharing stories, traditions and experiences can help children appreciate different perspectives and learn to value diversity in their everyday interactions.
How your school or service can get involved
There are many simple and meaningful ways to celebrate Cultural Diversity Week
- Host a local event or activity that showcases the cultural strengths, talents and traditions of your community
- Join the statewide conversation by sharing your community’s stories through the digital story telling competition.
- Attend the Victorian Multicultural Festival at Grazeland in Spotswood from 27–29 March, featuring food, music and performances from around the world.
Whether you mark the week through classroom activities, family involvement or community celebrations, your participation helps children recognise the value of diversity and strengthens their sense of inclusion and belonging.
A chance to reflect and connect
Cultural Diversity Week is an opportunity to reflect on how your school or service supports cultural inclusion — and to celebrate the many ways children, families and educators contribute to a vibrant and welcoming learning environment.
This March, join us in celebrating the message at the heart of the week: Culture connects us all.
