Wednesday 4 September is Early Childhood Educators’ Day! The celebration acknowledges the outstanding role educators play in supporting the wellbeing and healthy development of children in their care. 

Highlighting the work of educators across a range of settings, including long day care, family day care, kindergarten, preschool and occasional care, Early Childhood Educators’ Day is celebrated by more than 12,000 early learning services across Australia. 

Early Childhood Educators’ Day is an initiative of the Australian Childcare Alliance. The first celebration took place in 2011, following inspiration from World Teachers’ Day. 

Each year, Early Childhood Educators’ Day has grown, and it continues to raise awareness of the importance of early childhood education and care, and the irreplaceable role educators play in ensuring Australian children get the best start in life. 

The day aims to build understanding of the role of early childhood educators, promote recognition and appreciation, strengthen staff wellbeing and encourage advocacy.
