In response to the Strong Beginnings: Teacher Education Expert Panel (TEEP) report, an initial teacher education (ITE) quality assurance oversight board (ITE QAOB) has been established. 

The ITE QAOB is an expert advisory body that is responsible for overseeing a systematic approach to assessing and improving the quality, consistency and outcomes of ITE programs. 

The Department of Education has now published the Terms of Reference that the ITE QAOB must adhere to.

The Terms of Reference include

• the Board's role
• accountability and responsibilities
• finances 
• membership of the Board
• Chair responsibilities
• Deputy Chair responsibilities
• Individual Member responsibilities
• Secretariat
• Member remuneration
• Board meetings and other related matters
• compliance with general policies of the Commonwealth.
