About the survey
The survey is now open and is more than just another survey. It is an opportunity to directly influence national education policies and ensure decisions about the profession are informed by the people who know it best.

The survey is part of the Australian Teacher Workforce Data (ATWD) initiative, led by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL).

Why your participation matters
Thanks to teachers who have completed previous surveys, we have a better understanding of the profession than ever before.

Recent findings from the ATWD show that:

full-time classroom teachers report long hours during school terms (median of 50 hours per week)
40% of the workforce has 6-19 years' experience in the teaching profession
56% of early career teachers reported receiving a formal induction, with mentoring and reduced face-to-face teaching hours identified as the most useful activities
34% of teachers are unsure if they will stay in the profession until retirement
